What (Else) Student Conduct Administrators Need to Know About the Clery Act

NACCOP > What (Else) Student Conduct Administrators Need to Know About the Clery Act

Student conduct administrators play an integral role in their institution’s Clery Act compliance efforts. As Campus Security Authorities (CSAs), actions student conduct personnel take, or don’t take, can affect the accuracy and completeness of an institution’s crime statistics as well as an institution’s ability to add crimes to the institution’s Daily Crime Log (if required to maintain one) and assess reported incidents for potential Timely Warning or Emergency Notification purposes. While student conduct personnel typically play a pivotal role in designing and implementing procedures to respond to allegations of Dating/Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking (pursuant to the VAWA Amendments to the Clery Act), this webinar will focus on their longstanding role as CSAs and explore the non-VAWA intersections of the Clery Act with student conduct administration.

Presenter: Dr. Michael DeBowes, Director of Research & Strategic Initiatives, National Association of Clery Compliance Officers and Professionals (former student conduct director and recipient of the 2015 ASCA Dissertation of the Year Award)
